TO DISCOVER: THE NATIVITY SCENE OF NAPLES

Because the crib of Naples is not a simple representation of the nativity, it is tradition and history together and at the same time art and mirror of society and in the cribs of San Gregorio Armeno all this is well understood.
The Neapolitan nativity scene as we know it today has its origins in the 18th century when the first figures belonging to everyday life began to appear within the traditional representation of the nativity, such as the shops of artisans and merchants. Over the centuries the Neapolitan nativity scene has been enriched with popular figures, some traditional that always repeat themselves, such as the sleeping shepherd, others that change, depending on the historical and social context.
San Gregorio Armeno is the street of the cribs in Naples and here during the Christmas period you will find all this and even more: the most classic cribs and the most desecrating ones, all part of a unique tradition that survives in the heart of Naples, perfect for those who want browse a bit but also for shopping.
