PROGRAM:

Day 1: Departure - Trento

Meeting of the participants and departure by coach. Free lunch en route. Arrival in Trento In the early afternoon and free time to visit the markets. A typically Central European city, a meeting point of Italian and German cultures, Trento is often referred to as "the first Italian city after the Brenner Pass". Precisely for this reason, over the centuries it has absorbed the traditions of both cultures. The most important and well-known is the Christkindlmarkt, whose origins date back to the fourteenth century in Germany with the so-called "Markets of St. Nicholas", which were initially the only occasion of the year to buy Christmas decorations. The Christmas markets of Trento are above all for gourmands, rich in Trentino gastronomic specialties, sweets, cold cuts, grappa, wines and hot dishes. In the evening, accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Bressanone - Bolzano

Breakfast and departure for the whole day dedicated to visiting the most beautiful markets in South Tyrol. The Bressanone Christmas Market in Piazza del Duomo, framed by the Cathedral, the parish church of San Michele and the town hall, is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets. The stalls lovingly decorated in Christmas style display wooden figurines, nativity scenes with their figurines, handmade terracotta objects, colored glass balls, Tyrolean gift items and Christmas decorations. Naturally, there is no shortage of food stands, which invite you to taste the specialties of the Isarco Valley. Continuation to Bolzano, where Piazza Walther houses the characteristic wooden houses of the "Christkindlmarkt": decorations in glass, wood and ceramics. On the side of the square opens Palazzo Campofranco with its hidden internal courtyard with an atmosphere of peace and retreat , privately owned, with exhibitors and music. Inside the large courtyard is the Enchanted Wood with many Christmas trees, some houses for the sale of alpine specialties and some houses that display decorative objects. In the evening, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

3rd day: Trento - Rovereto - Return

Breakfast and departure for Rovereto, free time to visit the Christmas markets: during the Christmas period, the city is filled with this magical atmosphere of lights, music and perfumes. Its historic center becomes an open-air stage for spectacular installations, concerts, themed guided tours and activities for the little ones. Late morning departure for the return, with free lunch along the way.

TO DISCOVER: THE VIN BRULE'

Indispensable and, by now, a fixed presence of the traditional Christmas markets, is the famous delicious mulled wine.
Mulled wine warms from the inside out and seems to be good medicine for cold evenings outdoors like, for example, at a Christmas market. But not only that, it also brings joy to the group and is perfect for those who want to warm up.
The drink is prepared simply. A good red wine, cinnamon, cloves, sugar, cardamom and a few slices of untreated lemons or oranges. Everything is heated, but be careful, not brought to the boil, as at 83°C the alcohol contained would evaporate and the spices would change their flavour. After approx. 5 minutes, remove the pot with mulled wine from the heat. Wait a few minutes before serving it.
